AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM FOR MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS

Objectives:

1. Create an opportunity for students of different age groups to form friendly social interactions.
2. Give everyone a chance to shine outside the traditional academic setting.
3. Improve and expand their vocabulary and work on their stage presence.
4. To enhance students’ cultural understanding of British and American art.

Class size : Maximum of 20-25 students.
Rehearsals: once a week, excluding on school breaks; 1 h 30 for middle school students and 2 h for high school students.
Show duration: 1h15.

The program aims to produce a revue featuring about fifteen songs from two British or American musicals. The students will sing in English, thereby working on their pronunciation, vocabulary, and phrasing. The choreography is developed in collaboration with a professional.

Auditions will be held to decide which roles will be cast, making the most of the group’s talent and ensuring that every student gets a chance to shine. Many numbers involve the entire cast; depending on the group’s talent and preferences, some songs may be performed in their entirety as solos. However, most solos will be shared among several singers, each having a verse or stanza within a group number. The program begins in October, and the performance takes place in May.
